Location: Hybrid: Work from home + Sparks Street office
Remuneration: $18.20 per hour + 4% vacation pay | Paid holidays: Canada Day
Our team:
Ottawa Festivals d’Ottawa, a not-for-profit member-based service organization is seeking to fill 2 (two) Communications Assistant summer positions funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Assistants will have an opportunity to learn and collaborate with a passionate and experienced team and have a positive impact on the social and economic development of our industry.
The Opportunity:
Develop digital content to promote the festival, fair, and special event sector in Ottawa-Gatineau.
Research industry stories, conduct media coverage and on-site event coverage under the #OttFestLive banner.
Produce blogs, newsletters, videos, graphics and other forms of digital content.
Assist in the research and development of a Resource Hub for OFN Members.
Collaborate with team members in other related duties as required.
About You:
Must be eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs program:
are between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and,
have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Additionally:
Proven experience with social media marketing including video production and content creation.
Must have excellent, and proven, oral, and written communication skills.
Creative thinking to pitch new content ideas and stories.
Photography, videography skills.
Detailed oriented, critical thinker, motivated, proactive, and reliable.
Research skills to develop stories and assist with industry resource document production.
Have the ability to work as part of a team as well as work with minimal supervision.
Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends to attend events.
Nice to Have:
Bilingualism is not a requirement however French is considered an asset
Comfortable speaking in front of a camera and conducting media interviews.
Experience with Mailchimp, Wix, and Canva is considered a strong asset.
