About the Role
DESIRED CONTRACT TERM: 26 Weeks START DATE: ASAP END DATE: Initial term approved to the Province of Ontario’s current fiscal year end, March 31, 2025. Additional weeks are pending the approval of Ottawa Festivals’ fiscal year (2025-2026) JCP program agreement.
WORK SCHEDULE: 4 business days / 32 hours per week WORK LOCATION: Hybrid: Two days/week at downtown office
JOB SUMMARY: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (see more details below). Reporting to the Artistic Producer, Festival Manager, and Media Marketing Manager. Assist in the development and implementation of all media relationships including television, radio, print, social media and internet. Secure interviews with festival artists to publicize the festival and other events at the festival.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Develop marketing and communication strategies for approval by the Artistic Producer.
● Develop, execute and monitor the organization’s social media strategies.
● Assist in the design of overall initiatives aimed at developing the tourism market using the look and feel.
● Compile advertising campaigns, book advertising, and liaise with community newspapers/newsletters.
● Coordinate all public relations activities, foster ongoing communication with the media, pitch articles, update media list and track media coverage.
● Assist in preparing a final report on the project and make recommendations for the next festival.
● Must be a team player.
● All other duties as assigned.
SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:
● Must have training or previous experience in marketing, public relations and/or special events.
● College or University education required.
● Must possess strong written and verbal skills.
● Must be able to meet deadlines, perform under pressure.
● Must be computer literate and familiar with social media marketing techniques.
Additional Qualifications Required:
Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:
1. An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.
2. A resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.
3. Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
a. Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.
b. Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.
c. Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.
d. Received the Employment Insurance Emergency Response benefit (CERB) within the previous 60 months.
NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.
Remuneration:
$688 (gross) per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $21.50 based on 4 days/32 hours).
