Contract Length:  9 Weeks (31 hours per week)

Location:  Hybrid: Work from home + Sparks Street office

Remuneration:  $18.20 per hour + 4% vacation pay | Paid holidays: Canada Day

 

Our team:

Ottawa Festivals d’Ottawa, a not-for-profit member-based service organization is seeking to fill 2 (two) Communications Assistant summer positions funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Program.  Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Assistants will have an opportunity to learn and collaborate with a passionate and experienced team and have a positive impact on the social and economic development of our industry.



The Opportunity:

  • Develop digital content to promote the festival, fair, and special event sector in Ottawa-Gatineau.

  • Research industry stories, conduct media coverage and on-site event coverage under the #OttFestLive banner.

  • Produce blogs, newsletters, videos, graphics and other forms of digital content.

  • Assist in the research and development of a Resource Hub for OFN Members.

  • Collaborate with team members in other related duties as required.


About You:


Must be eligible to participate in the Canada Summer Jobs program:

  • are between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period

  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and,

  • have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Additionally:

  • Proven experience with social media marketing including video production and content creation.

  • Must have excellent, and proven, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Creative thinking to pitch new content ideas and stories.

  • Photography, videography skills.

  • Detailed oriented, critical thinker, motivated, proactive, and reliable.

  • Research skills to develop stories and assist with industry resource document production.

  • Have the ability to work as part of a team as well as work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends to attend events.


Nice to Have:

  • Bilingualism is not a requirement however French is considered an asset

  • Comfortable speaking in front of a camera and conducting media interviews.

  • Experience with Mailchimp, Wix, and Canva is considered a strong asset.

  • Passion about the festivals and events community!
