Ottawa, ON - February 28, 2025 - The Ottawa Music Industry Coalition is marking a milestone by bringing local music to a national stage, the 6th annual Capital Music Awards will be held at the National Arts Centre's Southam Hall as part of an expanded week of activities. From May 20-25, 2025, the inaugural Capital Music Week (CxMW) will feature a diverse lineup of public concerts, showcases, industry panels, workshops, networking opportunities, and a trade show. This event, designed to strengthen and promote Ottawa’s music industry ecosystem and celebrate the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition’s 10th anniversary, will take place across several venues in Ottawa, including the National Arts Centre (NAC) and Bronson Centre, amongst others, catering to fans, music creators, and entrepreneurs alike.

Among the key partners, Mathieu Grondin, Ottawa's Nightlife Commissioner will spearhead the Canada After Dark Summit on May 20th and 21st. Drawing on his extensive experience in global nightlife policy and his work shaping Montreal's nightlife, Grondin stated, “This international dialogue offers Ottawa a rare chance to drive collaboration and innovation, creating a dynamic and sustainable nightlife that resonates far beyond our city. The City of Ottawa’s Nightlife Office, in collaboration with OMIC and its partners, is eager to leverage Capital Music Week to boost late-night programming and champion policies that empower Ottawa's live music scene.” The two-day summit will connect industry professionals, policymakers, and creatives to exchange ideas and solutions for the recovery and growth of nightlife globally.

“This inaugural Capital Music Week marks an exciting new chapter for Ottawa's music industry. As we celebrate the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition's 10th anniversary, we're looking forward to a week of dynamic programming, showcasing the diverse talent within our city. We recognize the important work that Mathieu Grondin is doing with the Nightlife Office and are happy to work with him on the Canada After Dark Summit. We share the same goals of making Ottawa a vital and thriving music city,” says OMIC’s Executive Director Melanie Brulée.
